Stemwalls are poured

Faja was the inspector of the stemwalls. Les is with Kurt and he is the framer. He actually lived in Las Vegas for some years and then left that barren desert and came to the coast. He actually has a schedule! We have the most confidence that he will build us a great house.

More Grandkids

These three belong to Ashley. Jared is 8, Jaiden is 4 and Paige 2 months old. We miss them sooooo much.

He Shoots.....He Scores

Got to go and see Levi at his first soccer game. The wave was after he scored a goal. We really miss not being able to see Carter play football. Big trade-off for that ocean view

Materials Have Arrived

The materials arrived on Friday almost knocking off the satelite dish. These are the floor joist. We are going to be pouring the stemwalls tomorrow. Then they remove the forms, and Les, the framer, will be here on Tuesday to start installing the floor joist and plywood decking. Then it will look more like the beginning of a house.

The first rainstorm

Faja was freaked out over the rain. Do I need to tell you how it sounds "pinging" on the top of the trailer? It pelted the window behind our bed. BUT, we will survive.....I bought the raincoat for the dog. Cute huh?

Stemwalls

These are the crews setting the forms for the concrete. We are going to pour today if all goes well.

Inspector

Kurt is convincing the inspector to sign off where some of the footings had not been dug. He did it!

Footings were poured

This is the concrete crew of four that poured the footings. Before and after. The four man crew has now turned to two. Still, someone is working on the house, even in the rain!

FINALLY....THE PERMIT

The inspector is coming this morning to sign off on the footings for the house. They will probably pour concrete on Monday. You can't imagine how desparate we are for something to finally be happening to build this house.

Still no inspector

This picture is of the footing for the house. The inspector is supposed to come today.....we'll see.

Things Will Start Happening

These pictures are of Dean and his crew, bringing supplies to form the footings. The one picture is of the property to the NE. Hopefully, the septic inspector will be here tomorrow, and we will finally have a permit. Then Tuesday, concrete will be poured......Yeah! We will be in this trailer for MONTHS. Corey's family (four of them) in a tiny townhouse while they built his house and he said it was a sacrifice. I think of that EVERY day, while living in the trailer. Each person says to us, "have you lived through a winter here?".........Six months of rain.........Towels to dry off the dog.....THAT WON'T DRY...Yes...a sacrifice.

BOB AND JENNA ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!

First he took her on a helicopter ride to the grand canyon, where they had dinner. Then on the way home, the pilot dropped them off at Lake Las Vegas and the rode on a gondola. Then he dropped them off at the gazebo where he told her there was a bunny on the ground. She saw the engraved rock, and Bob popped the question. Nice, huh?
