The picture on the left is the back wall to the kitchen. There is a small window next to the door to the BBQ, and the HUGE window over the sink. There are no upper cabinets on those walls. The second picture is the french door opening in the master bedroom, and get this, even from the toilet there is a view! The next room is my sewing room. It has a huge window.
The guys on the right are from the power company. They were going to get us power, but way down at the entrance of the driveway, a pipe had been broken and nobody bothered to fix it. So, they will come back next week. The other two guys are Joe and Ryan. Joe is new, because Les quit. There was lots of drama that day.
I was over the next hill tring to get a body shot of a whale, but they are never up close when I am up close. Its getting darker earlier, but I have until December. Imagine swimming all that way (Alaska) for just a few months, and then swimming all the way back!
This machine is really something else. The owner/operator drives this giant truck with remote controls that he wears around his waist. The arm goes as far as he wants it to go, and in no time flat we had our driveway done. What a blessing, because when it rains, Faja would have muddy paws! If someone told me six months ago that Kurt would be wiping off a dogs' paws, I would have called them a liar.
This is where we drive to pick up Faja's food. Its called Grandpas Feed Store and it sits on the Alsea river. Cute, huh? The other is the hand-carved bear that Kurt has ALWAYS wanted. So I bought him an early birthday present.
Went for dinner in a great place called Kernsville Steak and Seafood. This is the view from their deck. Across the river is a natural animal habitat. There is a nest of osprey on the power pole. One thing is prettier than the next on the Oregon Coast!
Kurt is talking to his dad while Faja takes a rest. This is where we watched the ships sail to the battle. The point in the bay is filled with sea otters. One would think we were at pier 39 in San Francisco.
The ships. The Lady Washington, and the Hawaiian Chieftan were in the Newport Harbor this weekend. The Lady Washington was the ship that Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom used in filming the Pirates of the Caribbean, the Intrepid. They were beautiful vessels.
First they "blow" with their spouts, sometimes 12 feet high, and then they swim, and then they dive down and you get to see the tail. The black spot is the tail.
All the plywood is down for the floors of the house. The material was delivered to build the walls. The head dude will be hear on Monday. Naturally, he had two weeks vacation.
Ok, so its not the roomiest bathroom on the planet, but it works! The bed is quite comfortable. Kurt put shelves in all of the cabinets for more room. Our grandkids are going to love it!
Ok....so this is where we live. Not so bad, huh? The chairs are quite comfy...the table becomes a desk, or a sewing machine area. The booth is either the computer center, or the eating area. We manage!
This is called a high speed material handler. The operator wears a belt with all the controls on it. It actually moves this huge truck and spreads gravel back and forth. Made an easy job of what would take laborers hours to spread with a wheelbarrel. This is the bottom layer of the workshop and garage.
I get so nervous when he wanders on these joists. He just refuses to remember he is not as young as he used to be! The other picture is Ryan, the other carpenter building the house. You know you are getting older when the "helpers" look like high school kids.
Les, the chief cheese, made us a spot to sit and enjoy the view. He put up the plywood and several nails to keep the chairs in place. The other picture is my kitchen. Kurt put up the string line so the plumber (who isn't here yet) would know where the sink in the island goes. The island is the center of the checkerboard.
