Tillamook Cheese....

Bob and Jenna came to visit.......Yipeeeeeee

We took a day trip to the cheese factory.

The guys were hanging out while Jenna and I made sure we didn't miss anything in the shops!

They had to leave to go back to their real lives....Hurry back.....

We miss you already.............:(

Sushi Demonstrations.........

The kids cooked quite a feast! Bob demonstrated the proper way to make sushi. Although, I personally don't do the raw fish..............the ones made with sticky rice, avocado and fake crab were delish.........

Jenna was in charge of noodles, and Marc made the rice and tempura.

Bob was teaching Marc the techniques!

All the Wii home............

My smart daughter-in-law took a video of these two playing the Wii. Its much funnier than these boring old pictures.

Check out their blog!

Ping-pong......quite a work-out!

Always pitching in...........

We had an early Thanksgiving at the beach. Since, we wouldn't be together in November, I decided to throw a turkey in and celebrate in August!!!!

Gehlken Off-Springs..................

All of Kurts children and grandkids were at Corey and Nikki's house in late August. Can you say hot...hot...hot!

Corey, Nikki, Carter and Casey.........

Kearby, Stacie, Kylie, Levi and MacKenzie...........

Shane, Ashley, Jared, Jaiden, Paige, and Prestyn.............

Now, of course I am sort of prejudiced, but can you honestly say there are a greater looking kids???

Hmmmmm. Fresh Baked Bread!

This is my first loaf of bread that I made from scratch that wasn't made in the bread machine!
Kurt said it was the best tasting bread ever!!! (Also, cause he ONLY eats white bread)......haha

Chipmunk vsDog

When I woke up this morning, I noticed this cute chipmunk munching on my pansies! Who knew that was the reason I had no flowers. Soooo,

I opened up the door, and Faja and Chip had a stare-off. Faja moved in.....Chip took off and Faj chased her around the entire yard........

Wonder if the Chip will return?

POW WOW................

Fry Bread...........Yummo

We went to POW WOW in Siletz!

Not sure what these represented at he Pow Wow, but they looked awesome. We also missed the alder salmon that was cooking on large skewers.

This was the BEST part of the entire PowWow. The Indian fry bread smothered in Cinnamon and Sugar.

POW WOW................

We went to Siletz to see the Pow Wow. It was really very interesting. These native Americans have so much tradition in culture, and its is wonderful to see that they pass that along to their future generations.

This man let me take a close up of him! He had no teeth........Reminded me of when my grandson, Jared, was looking at the gardener (he was about 2 years old) and commented, "Grammy, hims has no teeth!"

These were the elders. There is a lot of history behind these guys.....

We sat in the bleachers and got to see some of the tribal members getting ready for the big entrance.

There were many tribes represented here, and people came from all over the United States.

Home-Grown

Finally, we got a cucumber.....We have 3 more growing. I hope they are ready when Bob and Jenna get here!

1st Day of School............

Big smiles on their faces for the first day of school. They are on year round.

Jared is getting so big, Jaiden always has a huge smile on his face and Paige is so darn ADORABLE....

Marla.....lookie........

This GIANT grass is one of the plants that YOU planted in the pot at the end of the deck. The one in front of our bedroom. Kurt had to CUT it out of the pot...

Finished Product..........

The liquid is the natural oil that is in the tuna. Everyone wants this stuff. Its like fishy "gold".....

Carrots....Yum

Here is proof that MacKenzie actually does eat some foods that are GOOD for her....

Shields came for an over-nighter...........

Ok...this is just NOT my day. Marc found his beauty the other day by the front of the garage just snoozing under a tarp.

He sprayed it with water and it wondered over to the neighbors yard.

Well, while Kearby was outside, he stumbled upon the snake once again.

Lucky Levi picked it up and put it in a box and took it to the other side of the road where the gully is, and set it free.

I'm pretty sure my gardening days are now over. I never even thought about snakes. For goodness sake, we live at the tail end of the forest.

I'm scared stiff, here!

TUNA TIME....

We picked a 20 pounder for canning this year.

The jars are in the canner, right now as I type. Will show the finished product after they cool off.

Fortunately for Kurt (he can't stand the smell), I will take the jars out of the cooker after he goes to work!

This guy was caught on Tuesday and canned on Sunday. You can't get much fresher than that!

Yep....More gravel

Jeff & Janice Mittelman came for their yearly visit, and just in time for GRAVEL

Finished Product............

Taaaaaaaaaa Daaaaaaaaaaaa.......Nice, huh....As usual, Kurt did a great job on building the greenhouse. My cucumber is growing nicely now.
