White Water Coast Guard Training......

Its tough to see the boat, but it is parallel with the line of type. There are actually two of them. If you stare at the picture long enough, you can see it.

The guys with the two-way radios stay warm and dry inside this huge SUV. Its exciting to us that they do so many operations in front of our house!

Look Who Came To Newport >>>>>>>>>>

Little ole' Newport gets on the map in this wild and crazy campaign year. In fact, the Democrats seem to be visiting here often.

He is a born speaker......told the crowd exactly what they wanted to hear. Spoken like a true politician!

My Cozy corner >>>>>>>>>>>>

I put my creations in this teeny tiny space at the Rec Center for the first "arts and crafts" show. This is supposed to be the first Saturday each month. Well, this Saturday was "Loyalty Days". There were a total of six customers......IN FIVE HOURS.......But I did sell, one chapstick holder, one cozy, and one bookmark. (They were sold to my friends) But, I still went home with more money than I started with............................Hope the Saturday Market calls me soon, or my big business will be over before it started.

Luncheon...

There was a fundraiser for the senior center. We were supposed to wear loud things. My friend, Joyce, wore a striking wig..........

These guys were our servers. They also posed nude in this years calendar. They had "props" in all the conspicuous places. They were gracious enough to sign some of the ladies calendars. All in good fun!

Our Old Beach......

Kurt wanted to trudge down this mountain for the driftwood we need to finish up our "island" of flowers.

Getting down is no problem.......lol
Climbing up is absolutely no fun at all. Now we remember why we don't come here any more......

As usual, look who has the most fun at the beach. We finally had a few days of nice SUNNY weather.

Fogart y Creek State Park~~~~~~~

Finally, we stopped in at this park. Oregon really does a nice job with their state parks. We took the dog for a walk while looking for some driftwood.

By the way, you really are not supposed to remove anything from the beach. We didn't!!!

Lazy Day........

Levi is building Harry Potter's castle.

Kylie is doing what she loves best!

Miss MacKenzie

The dress-up box is still a popular item at Grammy and Grandpas'.

She had the best fun..........

Here she was playing "letters" and watching the water horse.....

Outside Fun

Took all day, but Levi and MacKenzie FINALLY went out and played with Faja. Levi loved that she can catch the ball in her mouth.

Faja is waiting for Levi to toss the football.........I don't know who has the most fun.

Driftwood Art......

Kurt framed in our "air" plant with driftwood fresh from our beach~~~~~~~~~~

ITS JAYNE......

We were amazed that we were going to be in the same spot at the same time! Jayne's son, Brian, was doing a triathlon in Boulder City..............Over the years, Jayne and I have met in some unusual places.......but thats another story for another day.........

Vegas 2008 Visit........

No pictures, but I want to thank the McEvoys for their hospitality in hosting the "breakfast club" for dinner. We had a wonderful time!

Thanks to Bob and Jenna for their hospitality in having Kurt and I stay there.

Thanks to Bob, Jenna,Lan, Pat, Mike, Marla, Vaden, Joni, Sara, Tracy, and twins for making Passover a great time for us.

It was a whirlwind visit with so many people to see. We were sorry we couldn't spend more time with our grandkids........

Kurt & Debbie

Some Serious Gear....

I was amazed at how easily he carried this bag around. Tommy Lasorda will be knocking at his door.

Carter....1st game of the day

Look at that swing! Carter is doing a great job this year.

Perfect arm extension.......

Well, he's a Gehlken.......there is no choice.

Baseball runs in his dad and Grandpa's veins.............

And they all bleed Dodger blue. :)

Casey Girl.....

Casey has really grown since last summer. Look at those long, long legs. What a great little sister to root for her brother's team..........

Jaiden is a Natural

Seriously, this little guy with the HUGE smile is one heck of a ball player. He gets up to the plate, and taps his bat a couple of times and goes for it.

This was coach pitch and JJ hit the ball all three at bats......a natural.

All Smiles

They make a good team........

Baseball Baby

Jared surely takes care of his little sister. He was driving her all around the park.......at rapid speeds I might add

The Stars....

Annette and I got to meet our fellow "star", Jan. She is from Atlanta and brought both of us a mug filled with kisses.........It is so cool to meet someone that you have been chatting with in your embroidery group in person.......Welcome to Vegas Jan..............

The Twins........

Kids are getting bigger and I am getting older....... Always a smile on their faces!

Matzo Meal Pancakes

Sure wish I would have had a girl..... My guys sure didn't help in the kitchen much. I had to beg.....

Joni and Sara joined us too. I seriously didn't recognize Sara. She has grown up way to fast, and she is incredibly beautiful.

Next Generation

Its so nice to have the "younger" kids doing the work. Poor Jenna got the KP duty in her own house!

Tracy and Jenna have become very good friends. So nice since we have such a tiny family.

Look at Bethany.........throws that towel over her shoulder just like Auntie Debbie!!!

Soccer ------ 08' Season Begins

The sun was shining right in my face and the cameras also, so this was a shot in the dark, so to speak....... :-)

First day over 80 and the kids had to get in the smallest bit of shade. How cute is she!

Aerial View of Neskowin Beach

And the story goes

High winds, heavy rain and powerful surf pounding the Oregon Coast recently uncovered a ghost forest known mostly through legendary tales in the small community of Neskowin.

The ancient tree stumps are usually covered in deep sand. But recent storms washed away a great deal of the beach and once again uncovered the ancient tree stumps that locals call “the ghost forest.”

“They [tree stumps] look somewhat like old, ragged pilings leftover from something manmade - but they are, in fact, stumps of a forest some 2,000 years ago or so. As many as 100 are sometimes visible in various shapes and sizes.”

According to the article, the theory is that “around 2,000 years ago a massive, cataclysmic earthquake abruptly dropped this forest possibly more than 25 feet. Then, somehow, they [tree stumps] were preserved by sand and mud, rather then being destroyed and scattered, as natural erosion might've done… Either a tsunami brought the sand in or the earthquake rattled up so much soil and sand it covered the forest.”

Neskowin Beach...

Look at the size of this driftwood......

What a beautiful beach this is! It was at low tide so there is oodles of sand.

Neskowin Beach Close-ups

I suspect it would have been spookier if we could have gotten closer!

We couldn't get over closer because it was low tide and there was a creek separating the beach.

Think these people love their views!

Well Done....................

It is so nice to see flowers actually bloom...

Plants.....can't have too many

As soon as the sun comes out, we are dashing off for more plants.

Faja barks and chases the shovel. Kinda funny to see........

My rhodies are blooming.....Will have to take a picture to show you.

Huge BUG.......They grow em' big here. It is a Japanese beetle that eats aphids, so I guess thats a good thing.

These pinks are supposed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds which is good, because I am going to take the feeder down soon.

Treasures...................

These are the latest treasures we found at the beach. The driftwood shows up in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

That rock has all different colored rocks inside of it.

This is my first seashell. You don't find too many of these on this coast.

And one fossil......This was a GREAT day.

High Tide.............

Still her favorite thing to do! When the tide is high, she runs in and out of the surf . Still waiting for the currents to bring back all of the sand........

Nobody is on the beach in the morning. Amazing..... I feel like it is our private beach. Faja spins circles in the back of the car when the turn signal goes on at the street to the beach access.

Huge Starfish

Look at the size of this guy............. Kinda sad, though. I don't know if they stay alive til the tide rises again. Jenna tried to bring one home, and it shriveled up and started smelling really bad. She tossed it.......

Kurt Cooking.........& its not my birthday!

Unemployment is agreeing with my guy. I'm telling you THIS is a first. He claims no, but it is. He is actually making us scrambled eggs. For no reason !!!!!!!

I am soooooo proud of him. He made the toast and everything. Soon, there will be three course meals.....:-)
